Seat Belts

Protective Effect of Seat
Belts
Vehicle, driver and passengers all have
kinetic energy when the vehicle is in
motion. The strength of this kinetic energy
depends on speed, vehicle kerb weight,
and the combined weight of all occupants.
The greater the speed and combined mass,
the stronger the energy released in a crash.
In the event of a collision, occupants
without fastened seat belts will continue
their motion forward at the speed the
vehicle was going at the time of the collision
due to inertia, whereas the vehicle will have
come to an abrupt stop, potentially causing
serious injuries to occupants.
In a collision in which the occupants have
their seat belts fastened, the seat belts
will restrain occupants to their seats and
prevent them from being thrown violently
forward or out of the vehicle. In addition,
seat belts along with airbags provide the
best protection, thus significantly reducing
collision injuries.
WARNING!
Forces acting upon the human body
can be violent during a collision
even if the vehicle speed is very low.
Occupants who do not have their
seat belts fastened may be thrown
out of the vehicle, resulting in serious
injuries.
All occupants in the vehicle must
properly fasten their seat belts.
Failure to do so may cause them to
be violently ejected from the vehicle
in the event of an accident. This will
not only cause personal injury but
also endanger other occupants in the
vehicle.

Correct Sitting Posture

the driver's head is in the exact centre of
the headrest.
Adjust the steering wheel position so it is
at a proper distance from the driver.
Properly fasten the seat belt.
