There are no user-serviceable parts inside this instrument. Opening the instrument case may void the warranty. Merck recom-
mends that you return the APC SmartTouch Airborne Particle Counter to your authorized service center for any required
maintenance or service not described in this manual.
Maintenance and calibration schedule
Merck recommends annual factory cleaning and calibration for the APC SmartTouch.
See Chapter 7, "Contacting Customer Service" for service/calibration.

Cleaning the instrument enclosure
Daily Zero Count Check
The daily zero count check ensures that the instrument is working properly and free from residual particles and electronic noise.
Please see Chapter 2, "Getting Started" for detailed instructions on performing the zero count check.
Cleaning the Instrument enclosure
To clean the enclosure, dampen a lint-free cloth and gently wipe the surface until surface contamination is removed.
Frequency
Daily
(or before each use).
Annually.
