IEC 104 Overview

IEC 104 is a client/server communications protocol originally developed for use in the
electric utility sector for power transmission and distribution systems. It has migrated to
other vertical markets and is now a general market protocol based on a 3-layer protocol
scheme. IEC 104 is a generational protocol coming from a foundation of the IEC 60870-5-
101 protocol.
