Replacement of Battery

The battery used in the power supply module is consumable and must be replaced
periodically. Under the normal operating conditions, replacement at two-year intervals
(standard) is recommended. Check the replacement date during each periodical
inspection, and replace the battery with a new one when necessary. (Refer to Section
6.3.1 "Replacement of Battery")
If abnormal battery voltage is detected, alarm signal is output. In such a case, replace
the battery.
Dispose of used batteries properly in accordance with the local government's ordinance
or regulation.

• Absolutely do not charge, disassemble, convert or heat the lithium battery, nor put it in fire.
Also do not short-circuit the plus (+) and minus (-) electrodes of the battery. There is a dan-
ger of explosion or fire.
• Dispose of lithium batteries by the method in compliance with the local government's ordi-
nance or regulations. Otherwise, the batteries causes environmental pollution.
• The power supply module of the L3 controller is not compatible with manganese or alkali dry
batteries. Do not use these batteries in place of lithium batteries. Smoking, fire, or failure
can be caused.
• Do not use the L3 controller with the battery status abnormal. It is possible that the memory
of the L3 controller is lost when the power switch is turned OFF.
This section describes the method for replacing the memory backup battery for the L3
CPU module.
Replace the battery while power is supplied to the L3 CPU module (i.e., with power supplied to
the power supply module and with power switch ON). Otherwise, the memory content of the L3
CPU module may be lost.
Replace the battery in the following procedure.
(1) Remove the front cover of the power supply module.
(2) Disconnect the connector of the old battery, and remove the battery from the battery
case.
(3) Confirm that the "BATT" LED on the power supply module is unlit.
(4) Connect the connector of a new battery, and set the new battery in the battery case.
