2.6 Connection with Engineering Tool

For connection between the L3 CPU module and the engineering tool, use dedicated
cable with an RS-232C-compliant connector.
Cable connection method is described below.
• Use a screwdriver suitable to connector-fastening screws. Otherwise, the screws can be
damaged.
• To disconnect cable from the connector, do not pull by the cable itself. The cable can be bro-
ken.
Connect the dedicated cable in the following procedure.
(1) After confirming the orientation of the cable-side connector (female), insert it in the
engineering tool connector (male) [TOOL] of the L3 CPU module.
(2) Tighten each of two screws at top and bottom of the cable-side connector by rotating
it clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver, to securely fix the connector to the L3 CPU
module.
Disconnect the cable in the following procedure.
(1) Using a Phillips screwdriver, rotate each of two screws at top and bottom of the
cable-side connector counterclockwise until the screw completely come off the
engineering tool connector.
(2) Holding the cable-side connector (female) firmly, pull it off the engineering tool
connector of the L3 CPU module.
