4.3 Shutdown

For safer operation of the L3 controller, configure the external power supply circuitry so
that power is off in the following sequence.
First, change the operation mode of the L3 CPU module to be turned off.
(1) Before shutting down the online L3 CPU module of L3 controller in duplex
configuration, switch the secondary L3 CPU module to online, using the engineering
tool.
(2) Change the operation mode of the L3 CPU module to "HALT" using the engineering
tool. The "RUN" LED of the L3 CPU module goes out, and the 7-segment LED
indicates [HL].
[1] Power OFF of I/O module external power supply and load power supply
Turn off the external power supply and load power supply simultaneously (or load power
supply first, and then external power supply).
[2] Power OFF of L3 controller
(1) When the power supply module is model PS791S, set the shutdown switch to OFF.
The power LED (POWER) goes out. Power supply (5 Vdc/3.3 Vdc) to each module
in the main unit is shut off, so that the L3 CPU module is shut down.
(2) When an expansion module is used, turn off the power of the main unit and
expansion unit simultaneously (or the main unit first, and then the expansion unit).
(3) Turn off the power of the serial PI/O system (intelligent PI/O module).
Share the external power supply for I/O modules with loads if possible. If this is not possible,
configure the power supply circuitry so that the external power supply and load power supply
are turned off simultaneously. For safe operation of the system, ensure that loads are turned off
prior to the L3 controller. Otherwise, equipment damage or accident can be caused.
