AT8402
The IPMC controls the Hot Swap controller of each PCI Express port. This allows orderly inser-
tion and extraction of PCI Express AMCs from the running system without adversely affecting
the system.
The PCI Express Clock distribution generates 100MHz according the PCI Express Base Spec-
ification 1.0a or distributes 100MHz received via Zone 2 Update Channel 4 from another
AT8402. This reference clock is also distributed to the AMC bays as FCLKA. The clock distri-
bution is controlled by the IPMC. For details on how to configure the PCI Express Clock Distri-
bution, refer to the AT8402 CLI Reference Manual.
3.1.3
SAS/SATA Infrastructure
The major components of the SAS/SATA infrastructure are the LSI SAS1064E PCI Express to
4-Port Serial Attached SCSI Controller and the LSI SASx12A 3.0 Gbit/s Serial Attached SCSI
Expander. Two 3.0 Gbit/s port selectors configure the AMC bays' storage connections.
3.1.3.1

SAS Controller

The LSISAS1064E is a four-port 3.0Gbit/s SAS/SATA controller that is compliant with Fusion-
MPT TM architecture, provides a four lane PCI Express interface, and supports the Integrated
RAID TM solution. Each SAS/SATA lane supports 3.0Gbit/s and 1.5Gbit/s data rate transfer.
The LSISAS1064E is controlled via the PEX8532 PCI Express switch from the root complex.
The four SAS/SATA lanes are connected to the LSISASx12A Expander.
3.1.3.2

SAS Expander

The LSISASx12A is a 12-port Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) expander that supports 3.0 Gbit/s
and 1.5 Gbit/s SAS and SATA data rate transfers.
The SAS Expander is used to increase the number of accessible devices of the SAS infrastruc-
ture. One port of the SAS expander is connected to each of the four AMC slots. Four ports are
routed to the Zone 3 region (RTM) of the Carrier and four ports are connected to the SAS Con-
troller.
3.1.3.3

AMC Storage Connections

Two port selectors are used to configure either a storage connection between the AMC slots
and the SAS Expander (SAS Connect) or between pairs of AMC slots (Direct AMC Connect).
This is required to enable direct connections between AMCs with a SATA host and a SATA tar-
get. The first selector is used to enable direct SATA connection between AMC B1 and AMC B3
and the second one is used to enable direct SATA connection between AMC B2 and AMC B4.
Both port selectors are controlled by the IPMC and can be configured independently from each
other.
