Startup Configurations
A startup configuration is a combination of an initrd and a configuration file for the base switch.
The IPMC image is not part of the configuration and is updated separately. Several configura-
tions (up to 99) can be defined but only one is active at a time. To display the currently available
startup configurations, the CLI command 'show' is used.
(AT8402 Base Fabric) #show startupconfig startup
ACT NR INITRD
--- -- ------------ ------------
01 A ALPHA 6.01 01 standard
*
02 A ALPHA 6.01 02 config
(AT8402 Base Fabric) #
In this example, three startup configurations are available. Startup configuration 02 is the cur-
rently active configuration which is indicated by the '*' in the first column. This configuration
consists of:.
• INITRD ALPHA 6.02 which is located in Software partition A.
• Base fabric configuration file which is stored in slot 02 of the configuration partition.
The user can define other startup configurations and combine images and configuration files
as needed. To set up a new startup configuration, it is necessary to change into the CLI's con-
figuration mode using the 'configure' command. In this mode, the 'startupslot' command is used
as shown in the following example:
(AT8402 Base Fabric) (Config)#startupslot 3 config 2 initrd A
Successfully set startup slot 3
You may mark it active now and reboot to use the new configuration.
(AT8402 Base Fabric) (Config)#exit
(AT8402 Base Fabric) #show startupconfig startup
ACT NR INITRD
--- -- ------------ ------------
01 A ALPHA 6.01 01 standard
*
02 A ALPHA 6.01 02 config
03 A ALPHA 6.01 02 config
(AT8402 Base Fabric) #
A new startup configuration has been added to the list combining the software images given in
the previous command.
Warning!
It is not recommended to combine images from different releases.
