If a failure is detected, from one of the 2 cases detailed above an integrated system mecha-
nism ensures a bump less changeover from the 'Primary' Digital Gateway to the 'Backup' Digi-
tal Gateway. All process data, alarms and events and the system status information are then
available from the Backup Digital Gateway which will become the Primary Digital Gateway af-
ter the switch over.
