7. Hardware Setup

7.3 Connecting the Device

Follow the steps below to connect your B162 units with the hardware as required.
Note: For details on LED indicators to help you identify connection status or signal transmission, see Status LEDs.
1. Connect the transmitter's
HDMI Input to the video
source device with a user-
provided HDMI cable.
2. Connect the receiver's HDMI
Output to the video display
device with a user-provided
HDMI cable.
3. The diagrams to the right
illustrate a point-to-point
setup. Set up the B162 units
as follows:
Point-to-Point Setup
A. Connect one end of an
Ethernet cable to the LAN
Port on the transmitter
and the other end to the
LAN Port on the receiver.
B. Plug the power adapters
into the DC Power Jacks
on both units.
Multipoint-to-Multipoint
Setup
A. Install the transmitter and
the receiver to the same
LAN by connecting their
LAN Ports to an Ethernet
switch using Ethernet
cables.
B. The units can be powered on
through an Ethernet cable if
they are connected to a
PoE-supported Ethernet
switch. Alternatively, plug the
power adapters into the DC Power Jacks on both units.
Note: When power is available from both the power adapter and the Ethernet cable (PoE), the supply from the power
adapter will receive priority.
4. (Optional) To bypass RS-232 signals, connect your computer to the RS-232 Serial Ports on the units.
5. (Optional) To bypass IR signals, plug the IR Receiver into the Bi-Directional IR Port on the transmitter or receiver, depending
on where you wish to operate the remote control and the IR Transmitter.
6. (Optional) To use a keyboard/mouse, connect those USB peripherals to the receiver's USB-A ports and your computer to
the transmitter's USB-B port.
7. (Optional) Connect audio devices to the transmitter's Audio Input and the receiver's Audio Output.
