Air Flow Settings

The amount of air flow needed to separate the sheets depends on the paper weight. Rec-
ommended air flow settings are the following:
< 80 gsm
20 %
80 - 100 gsm
40 %
100 - 120 gsm 60 %
120 - 200 gsm 80 %
Note
These settings are very approximate, the amount of air flow is also dependent of other
factors like for example coating, structure, the amount of print etc. See examples below for
how to obtain proper feeding of the sheets.
32
When the airflow is perfect the sheets will rise and
separate as in the picture.
perfect airflow
If the air flow is too high, the sheets will create a pile
at the top and just be separated in the middle. There
is then a greater risk that there will be an error like a
double or a miss.
too high airflow
If the air flow is too high, the amount of separated
sheets will be to high. There is then a greater risk that
there will be an error like a miss.
too high airflow
If the airflow is too low, there will not be enough power
and only one or a few sheets will separate. There is
then a greater risk that there will be an error like a
double or a miss.
too low airflow
