11.3
Substances that must be declared according to WEEE
Disposal of used equipment and batteries
The following only applies to countries in the European Union and countries that have a
recycling system:
The disposal of our products and possible recycling of their associated components after having
been decommissioned must always be carried out by an appropriately certified recycling
company. Alternatively, the products/components must be brought to a suitable collection site
or a suitable acceptance site. These disposal measures must be in full compliance with all local
legislation, guidelines and environmental guidelines in which the actual disposal takes place.
For the European Union, the environmentally compatible disposal of electronic waste is defined
in the appropriate directive for electronic waste and electronic equipment (WEEE - Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
The symbol with the crossed-out garbage can on the products, the packaging and/or the
accompanying documentation means that it is not permissible that (used) electrical and
electronic products and batteries are disposed of with normal household waste. Incorrect
disposal of such waste can result in penalties laid down in national legislation.
The correct disposal of these products helps to reduce the usage of valuable resources, and
avoids potential negative consequences relating to human health and the environment.
Note
It is not permissible that our products and batteries are disposed of together with household
waste. When disposing of batteries, local as well as international legislation must be strictly take
into consideration.
Disposal of mobile data storage devices (e.g. USB sticks, memory cards etc.)
When disposing or transferring/sending mobile data storage devices and media, using the
"Formatting" or "Delete" function is not sufficient. The "Format" or "Delete" function only
modifies the file management, and does not completely delete data from the data storage
medium. To delete data completely and finally from mobile data storage media, in the case of
disposal, we expressly recommend physically destroying the data storage media or using a
commercially available software to fully delete the data.
