Starting a cold engine
1. Place the hand throttle lever (1) in the halfway position.
2. Place transmission shuttle shift lever (2) in the neutral
position.
3. Place both gear levers (3) in the neutral position.
4. Depress the clutch pedal (4).

Explosion hazard!
DO NOT use ether starting fluid. Serious en-
gine damage, explosion, death, or serious per-
sonal injury could occur.
Failure to comply could result in death or seri-
ous injury.
Turn the key switch (4) fully clockwise to the "START"
(3) position to operate the starting motor. Rotate the
engine but do not operate the starter motor for more
than 10 s.
6. After the engine starts, allow the key switch to return
to the "RUN" position.
7. Return the hand throttle lever to the idle position and
check that all warning lights are off and gauge read-
ings are normal.
