Method A
1. Lightly tap the end of the element against the palm on
the hand.
NOTICE: Do not tap the element against a hard surface as this will damage the element.
Method B
WARNING
1.
Flying debris!
Compressed air can propel dirt, rust, etc. into
the air. Wear eye and face protection when us-
ing compressed air.
Failure to comply could result in death or seri-
ous injury.
Use compressed air,
(19.0 psi).
2. Insert the air line nozzle inside the element
3. Hold the nozzle at a distance from the element and
blow the dust from the inside through the element to
the outside.
NOTICE: Under dusty conditions, clean outer element more often than 300 h Loss of engine power, excessive smoke,
and the illumination of air cleaner restiction light indicates the possible clogging of the filter.
Inspection of the outer element
1. Examine the element for damage by placing a light in-
side the element. Discard the element if pin pricks of
light can be seen or if there are areas where the paper
appears thin.
2. Check the element material for bunching, the metal
casing for distortion and rubber sealing for damage.
Discard the filter if the filter is damaged.
3. Clean the inside of air cleaner housing using a damp,
lint free cloth on a probe. Do not damage the inner filter
element. Make sure that the inner end of housing is
clean and smooth, to ensure a good seating for rubber
seal on the element.
