General introduction

The automatic Hydro EN pumping set for automatic sprinkler
system are made in compliance with the requirements of the
following standards of reference:
• EN 12845 - Automatic fire sprinkler systems
• UNI 10779 - Hydrant networks
• UNI 11292 - Compartments for installation of fire fighting
pumping sets (for the applicable aspects).
The Hydro EN pumping set are designed for automatic sprin-
kler system such single, superior single, double or combined
water supply sources.
According to the norm prescriptions, in the pumping sets with
two pumps, each pump installed must be able to supply the
design performance; in the three pump pumping sets instead,
each must deliver 50% of the flow rate at the required design
head.
For diesel driven pumps, a functional factory test with perfor-
mance testing is performed; the all test data are recorded on a
bulletin.
The main pumps are subjected to automatic start and manual
stop.
The automatic stop function, for hose reels systems only (UNI
10779) is always included and and can be activated, if neces-
sary, by following the procedures outlined in the dedicated
paragraphs.

Delivery and storage

4.1

Delivery

To facilitate handling, pumping units are shipped from the
factory in macro blocks designed for the transport of forklift or
similar device.
Use appropriate tools and devices, in compliance with the
safety requirements.
Lift the pump set by means of the lifting eyes
of the base frame. Never use the lifting eyes
of the individual components. The lifting point
should always be above the centre of gravity of
the pump set. Alternatively, a forklift truck can
be used.
Use only lifting equipment in proper condition.
Lock the cabinet door before moving the pump-
ing set.

Storage

The pump set must be stored in a frost-free
Caution
room.
In order to prevent water, dust, etc. from entering the pump, all
openings must be covered until pipes are connected.
