Re-calibrating several parameters as described below may be
useful only in the case of particular requirements tied to service
operations.

12.18 Speed calibration

Put the key selector in 0 position and choose the value in the
SPEED CALIBR. parameter,
• set the maximum motor speed (3000 rpm),
• confirm by pressing the ENTER button,
• put the key selector in TEST position,
• start the engine at maximum speed an wait for calibration.
The display will show ?CAL? until calibration completes,
after which the speed set in the parameter will appear.
The calibration phase requires a few seconds.

12.19 Engine ON self-learning

• With the selector in TEST position, start the engine at mini-
mum speed and wait until the motor speed stabilizes,
• Put the key selector in 0 position and select the parameter
"Motor ON calibration", select YES then press ENTER.
The display will show ?CAL? which will flash until calibra-
tion is completed.
The self-learning phase requires a few seconds.

Operating modes

Several operations that involve use of the pump control panels
will be described in the following paragraphs.
Therefore refer to the paragraphs dedicated to the pump control
panels (jockey, electric pump, diesel pump).
If an isolating valve has been installed between the pumping set
and fire-fighting network, it is recommended to close it before
continuing with the test operations.
The duty pumps are to be tested one by one, putting the operat-
ing mode selector, present on the control panel of each specific
pump, in the position defined for the test.

13.1 Jockey pump - manual starting

The Grundfos Hydro EN pumping sets have always included a
jockey pump in the scope of supply which automatically guar-
antees system pressurization in case of leaks so as to prevent
unjustified start-up of the main pumps.
Keep pressed the button (ref. B) on the front panel of the jockey
pump to start it manually. The pump works as long as you hold
the button.

13.2 Main pump - manual starting

What is described below has to be repeated for all the pumps
to test:
• set the main switch of the jockey pump in 0 position,
• close the gate valves on the discharge connection to the fire
network,
• set the operation mode selector of the main pumps on
"TEST"
• open the gate valve of the flow rate test loop,
• partially open the gate valve located downstream of the flow-
meter on the test circuit in order to allow the measurement of
the flow rate.
• start the pump to be tested with the button I (manual start)
verifying the QH performance and the following parameters:
• FLOW – through the flow rate test loop
• PRESSURE – both in suction and discharge through
appropriate vacuum pressure gauge and manometer,
• CURRENT – absorbed, through ammeter,
and also for the diesel pump:
• ENGINE SPEED,
• HOURS OF OPERATION,
• ENGINE TEMPERATURE,
• OIL PRESSURE,
• FUEL LEVEL,
• BATTERY VOLTAGE,
Repeat the above for all the main pumps.
Once the test is finished, close the flow rate test loop, open the
valve on discharge connection to the fire network and position
all the operation selectors on AUT.

13.3 Automatic operation

In order to operate automatically, the operation mode selector
must be moved on AUT position.
Doing so, for lowering of the fire network pressure (opening of
the utilities) the pressure switches automatically start the pumps
and in cascade, according to the following sequence: electric
jockey, service pump and, if necessary, the reserve pump.
The pressure values related to starting and stopping the indi-
vidual pumps are calibrated at the factory but can be suitably
adjusted by the customer in order to ensure an optimal perfor-
mance for the system.
Only the jockey pump automatically stops through the pressure
switch when the stop pressure is reached.
The main pumps can be stopped only manually by pressing
the dedicated button on the control panels, or, for hose reel
systems, they can be automatically stopped by a timer (UNI
10779).
The "TEST-0-AUT" selectors therefore allow the starting an
stopping of every single pump at any time.

Warnings for starting

Before beginning any type of operation, care-
fully read the contents of this manual and of the
accompanying documentation.
Correctly top up the engine fluids: oil, coolant,
fuel.
Before the commissioning, recharge the batter-
ies for at least 12 hours with an external battery
charge before the use on the pumping set.
Prime the pumps by filling both the suction
pipes and pumps with liquid, making sure that
no air pocket are left in the system.
Check the alignment of the couplings of pumps
(with spacer coupling) after fixing all the hy-
draulic connections.
Do not open the cap of the heat exchanger
when the engine is running, and in any case not
before that the heat exchanger is cold.
Ensure that the hot flow exiting the heat ex-
changer, or any accidental emission of liquid,
cannot injure persons or damage parts of the
pumping set.
Check that all the gate valves for the heat ex-
changer circuit are positioned in the operation-
al configuration.
