Data communication Fault finding 2. Scope of these instructions Maintenance These installation and operating instructions apply to Grundfos 14.1 Pumps Hydro Multi-B booster systems. Hydro Multi-B is a range of 14.2 CU 323 factory-assembled booster systems, ready for installation and Frost protection operation.
3. Product description As standard, the booster systems consist of two to four pumps coupled in parallel and mounted on a common base frame with all the necessary fittings and a control cabinet. Fig. 3 Front view of Hydro Multi-B CR booster system Fig.
4. Application types The booster systems are available for the following application types: • constant-pressure boosting • tank filling. Furthermore, two control variants of the booster systems are available. The control variants are described below. 4.1 Booster system for constant-pressure applications The booster system for constant-pressure applications is designed to maintain a constant pressure on the discharge side of the pumps.
4.2 Booster systems for tank-filling applications The booster system for tank-filling applications is designed to fill a tank such as a roof tank or a break tank in a controlled manner. The booster system controls the filling either via level switches or a level sensor.
5. Delivery and handling 6. Identification 5.1 Delivery 6.1 Nameplate The booster system is delivered in a recyclable packaging, The nameplate of the booster system is fitted on the base frame. specially designed for transport by fork-lift truck or a similar vehicle.

7. Installation Warning Installation and operation must comply with local regulations and accepted codes of good practice. Before installation, check the following: • Does the booster system correspond to order? • Are all visible parts intact? 7.1 Mechanical installation 7.1.1 Location The booster system must be installed in a well ventilated room to ensure sufficient cooling of the pumps and the control cabinet.
7.1.5 Expansion joints 7.2 Electrical installation Expansion joints are installed with the following purposes: Warning • to absorb expansions/contractions in the pipework caused by The electrical installation must be carried out by changing liquid temperature an authorised person in accordance with local •...
8. User interface The booster system incorporates a CU 323 control unit which enables manual setting and monitoring of the system. Figure shows the user interface for a system with four pumps. CU 323 CU 323 AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO AUTO RESET system run...

Pos. Displays Description Measured value Shows the actual, measured value on the discharge side. Proportional setpoint at zero flow, PPS [bar]. PPS is visible if the button is pressed for 4 seconds. RESET Proportional setpoint After the button is released, PPS can be adjusted by the means of the button.
9. Startup A positive inlet pressure is required before startup and during operation. Caution Do not start the pumps until they have been fully primed. Warning When pumping hot liquids, ensure that persons cannot accidentally come into contact with hot surfaces of the product.
10. Operating modes User operation depends on the system mode. The system modes are described in the following sections. 10.1 Local mode, external stop not activated In this mode, the system is locally controlled, and the external stop via digital input is not activated. The flow charts below show examples of how settings can be made.
10.3 Remote-controlled, external stop not activated In this mode, the system is remote-controlled, and the external stop via digital input is not activated. If local settings are to be changed, follow the flow chart examples below. Keep pressed for 3 seconds See section 10.1 Local mode, external stop not activated...
