3 Introduction
The echolink one2PROFINET module serves to adapt a serial port to PROFINET networks. The
device features 2 PROFINET ports - one port can for instance be used as an outgoing
PROFINET port. Talking of PROFINET is automatically connected with the 100 Mb/s-version,
full-duplex and switched Ethernet. The terminal unit's protocol is converted in the echolink one
via a Script.
The module echolink one2PROFINET essentially consists of the following hardware compo-
nents:

Electrically isolated PROFINET-interface
• Processor
• RAM and FLASH
• Serial interface (RS232, RS485 and RS422) to the device connected externally
