CLMD12 User's Manual
Each discrete input can be configured to output an ON indication when the input voltage level
is sensed as Low, High, or Both (Low and High). If the input voltage level is not one of the
configured levels, then the discrete input channel will output an OFF indication.

3 Installation

3.1 Unpacking the Box

When unpacking the box containing the Maretron CLMD12, you should find the following items:
1 – CLMD12 – 12 Channel DC Load Module
1 – CLMD12 User's Manual
1 – Warranty Registration Card
If any of these items are missing or damaged, please contact Carling.

3.2 Choosing a Mounting Location

Please consider the following when choosing a mounting location.
1. The CLMD12 is waterproof, so it can be mounted in a damp or dry location.
2. The orientation is not important, so the CLMD12 can be mounted on a horizontal deck,
vertical bulkhead, or upside down if desired.
3. The CLMD12 is temperature-rated to 85°C (185°F), so it should be mounted away from
engines or engine rooms where the operating temperature exceeds the specified limit.

3.3 Mounting the CLMD12

Attach the CLMD12 securely to the vessel using mounting screws or other fasteners through the
three provided mounting holes. Do not use threadlocking compounds containing methacrylate
ester, such as Loctite Red (271), as they will cause stress cracking of the plastic enclosure.

3.4 Connecting the CLMD12

The CLMD12 requires four types of electrical connections, as shown in Figure 3 below:

connection (J3), which is described in Section 3.4.1,
