Remote
Configuration and
Control
This section discusses the methods by which the DSC 401 and DSC 401 A can be
configured and controlled remotely: the Extron Simple Instruction Set (SIS) commands and
the Product Configuration Software (PCS). It describes the available SIS commands and the
controls on the web page and also provides instructions for obtaining and accessing PCS.
Topics include:

SIS Commands

Use SIS commands to configure and control the DSC via a host computer or other device
(such as a control system) attached to the front panel USB port or the rear panel LAN port
(DSC 401 A only). You can enter commands using a host communication application and
send them via Ethernet (DSC 401 A) or via Ethernet over USB (both models).
SIS commands consist of one or more characters per field. No special characters are
required to begin or end a command sequence. When the DSC determines that a
command is valid, it executes the command and sends a response to the host device.
All responses from the scaler to the host end with a carriage return and a line feed
(CR/LF = ] ), indicating the end of the response character string (one or more characters).

Connecting the DSC to the Host

Use either of the following methods to establish communication between the host and the
DSC:

Ethernet (IP) over USB — Connect the host to the front panel USB Config port. To
enter SIS commands, use a secure communication utility that supports Secure Shell
(SSH). Enter 203.0.113.22 for the IP address where requested and 22023 as the port
number.
To log in to the DSC via Ethernet or IP over USB:
User name = admin or user (default)
