Safety
Risks associated with using
microwaves and ovens
CAUTION
Health hazard!
The water that melts during defrosting
can contain harmful bacteria, especial-
ly with meat and poultry!
Do not defrost meat, poultry and
■
fish in oven mode, only in microwave
mode.
Avoid any physical contact.
■
Pour defrost water away. Do not use
■
it for any other purpose.
Thoroughly clean the crockery you
■
have used.
Acrylamide may be carcinogenic.
Acrylamide is produced when starch is
exposed to excessive heat, e.g. in pota-
toes (fries, chips), biscuits, toast, bread
etc.
Keep cooking times as short as pos-
■
sible.
Only brown the food slightly, do not
■
allow it to brown too much.
Cut larger-sized fries and then bake
■
at maximum of 180°C.
When frying potatoes using raw po-
■
tato discs or frying potato fritters in
a frying pan, it is better to use mar-
garine (with a minimum fat content
of 80 %) or oil with a little margarine
instead of pure oil.
Brushing baked goods with egg
■
whites or egg yolks helps to reduce
the formation of acrylamide.
Risk of tipping and injury!
If the open appliance door is loaded
with a heavy weight, the appliance can
tip forwards. There is a risk of injury
from falling objects.
The oven door must not be used as a
■
support prop, seat or step.
The screws which have been supplied
■
with the appliance must be affixed
before the oven is used to protect
against tipping.
NOTICE
Risk due to improper operation!
The oven door is heavy and has a
■
glass front. Do not allow it to fall
when taking it off its hinges!
Cleaning: Do not use any harsh, abra-
■
sive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers
to clean the glass on the oven door,
as they can scratch the surface. This
can destroy the glass.
When cleaning do not use steel
■
wool, oven sprays, steam cleaners
or high-pressure cleaners! They can
damage the surface and destroy the
glass.
High-pressure cleaners can cause a
short circuit.
Special risks in microwave mode
WARNING
Microwave hazard!
A door that fails to close adequately
can cause microwave radiation to es-
cape. The microwave must not be used
in such a case.
