5.3.1 Cleaning the backwater valve

• Make sure there is no backwater
• If necessary, move the emergency closure lever to
the open position
• Remove lockable cover* <2>, for this
• Lift the one-hand lever <6> on screw-plug side
<1>*. Turning it by more than 90° will lift the
cover for easier removal.
• Where applicable open second one-hand
lever (fig. [26] ).
• Remove lockable cover <2>.
• Lift the functional elements (first backwater flap <3>
and, if available, the second backwater flap <5>) up
and out and clean them
• Coat the guides and sealing surfaces of the functional
elements (first backwater flap <3> and, if available,
the second backwater flap <5>) with a suitable
lubricant (e. g. fittings grease **) and insert them
again
• Install the lockable cover <2> again, fitting the locking
lug <4> in place as shown in the illustration
• Carry out a functional check (see 4.3)
* Drain bodies from DN 150 have two one-handed closures.
** Do not use a mineral lubricant.
