ü Verify that the USB Interface and the sensor are connected to the
PC workstation.
1. In Sidexis 4 click on "Settings" > "Exposure" > "Devices"-2 .
2. Select the configuration button for the sensor to be upgraded.
Ä If only the USB Interface is connected, the words "AE USB
Sensor Interface" will appear instead of the sensor name. In this
case attach the sensor as it must be connected before it can be
updated.
3. If the firmware for the sensor is up-to-date, no action is needed. If
the "Update Sensor" button is displayed, perform a firmware
upgrade by continuing with the following steps.
4. Click on the "Update Sensor" button.
Ä A short message will appear as a reminder to keep all hardware
connected during the update.
Ä When the update is complete, another short message will
appear to confirm a successful upgrade.
5. Click "OK" to close the message.
Ä Sensor update is complete and the firmware version displayed.

Updating from file

This is an alternate method for updating sensors and USB Interfaces. In
almost all cases the preferred approach to updating firmware will be to
follow the procedures described previously. In specific instances, as
directed by support personnel, this method may be appropriate.
This method requires the availability of a special file (in zip format) not
normally distributed with the Sidexis 4 Sensor Plugin software. The
update from file process will recognize that special file only. All other
files will be ignored.
To update from file, perform the following steps:
ü Verify that the USB Interface and the sensor are connected to the
PC workstation.
1. In Sidexis click on "Settings" > "Exposure" > "Devices"-2 .
2. Select the sensor to be upgraded.
Ä If only the USB Interface is connected, the words "AE USB
Sensor Interface" will appear instead of the sensor name. In this
case attach the sensor as it must be connected before it can be
updated.
3. Click on "Choose file..."
4. Browse to the special zip file containing the appropriate firmware
versions for the sensor and USB Interface.
5. Click on the Update button.
Ä A short message will appear as a reminder to keep all hardware
connected during the update.
Ä When the update is complete, another short message will
appear to confirm a successful upgrade.
6. Click "OK" to close the message.
Ä Sensor and USB Interface updates are complete and the firmware
version displayed.
