Commissioning

Before commissioning

───
Avoid overloading
Limit the rated and peak torque of the motor if the transmission ra-
tio is too high.
If you do not limit them, excessively high transmission ratios can
lead in case of error with motor/gear unit combinations to overload
and damage to the gear unit.
Example:
The example shows you how to limit the rated and peak torque of
the motor in the servo drive:
Description
Rated motor torque
Peak motor torque
• 1/5
Description
Rated gear unit torque
Maximum gear unit torque
• 15/24
Gear ratio i = 10
The rated motor torque is not limited. The peak motor torque is lim-
ited to 2.4 Nm.
Observe the operating instructions for the motors
For commissioning, read the original operating instructions for the
motor you are using and carry out the steps in accordance with the
commissioning instructions.
Commissioning example
The procedure for commissioning is described as an example. A
different method may be appropriate or necessary, depending on
the application of the components.
Pay attention to the following points before commissioning:
• Inspect the gear unit for damage
• Check installation and alignment
• Tighten screw connections correctly
• Installing mechanical, thermal and electrical protective devices
• Check the wiring, connection and proper grounding of the
drive, gear unit and servo drive
In case of motors with holding brake [+]
• Check the function of the holding brake [+]
• In case of malfunction: Apply 24 VDC, the brake must release
• Check emergency stop functions
