2.1.3 Network environment settings
The local area network settings have DHCP set to be used by default ("Obtain an IP
address automatically"). To set an IP address without using DHCP, perform the following
procedures.
1. Log on as a computer administrator if not already logged on as such.
2. Click the [Start] button, and choose [All programs], [Accessories], [Communication],
and then [Network connections].
3. The [Network Connections] window is displayed.
4. Double-click the [Local Area Connection] icon.
NOTE
If there are many [Local Area Connection] icons, perform the following procedures to
link the icon and Ethernet adapter port.
• Right-click the [Local Area Connection] icon, and choose [Properties] from the
displayed pop-up menu.
• Click the [Configure] button, and in the [Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network
Connection Properties] window, click [Link Speed] tab.
• Click the [Identify Adapter] button, and in the [Identify Adapter] window, click the
[Start] button.
• The LED for the Ethernet adapter port associated with the selected [Local Area
Connection] icon blinks.
5. The [Local Area Connection Properties] window is displayed.
• Select "Internet protocol (TCP/IP)" and click the [Properties] button.
