4.4 Default Scheduled Functionality of Windows® 7
With Windows® 7, several kinds of functionality are scheduled by default to run regularly in
the background. This functionality includes Windows Defender (anti-spyware functionality)
and disk defrag, which place significant load on the system during operation, and can affect
the operation of running applications. As such, we recommend changing the schedule times as
necessary to prevent overlap with schedules on which applications run.
The initial schedule settings are as follows.
Windows Defender
• Frequency: Daily
• Start time: 2:00
Disk defrag tool
• Frequency: Weekly
• Day: Wednesday
• Start time: 1:00
