2.2.3 Automatic update settings
Windows® 7 comes with automatic update functionality using patches to solve software
malfunctions. This enables automatic download and installation when a patch is published
on Microsoft's web site.
However, this functionality may impact currently running applications, and automatically
updated module may affect currently running programs. As such, make sure that this
functionality is disabled.
The procedures for disabling automatic update functionality are as follows.
1. Log on as a computer administrator if not already logged on as such.
2. Click the [Start] button, and then choose [Control Panel].
3. The [Control Panel] window is displayed. Click [System and Security].
4. Continue by clicking [Turn automatic updating on or off] in Windows Update.
