Cross-Section Function

The cross-section function shows the vertical or horizontal "slices" of 3D echoes.
To use the cross-section function, do as follows:
Note: The cross-section and density calculation functions cannot be used simultane-
ously. One is automatically turned off when the other is activated.
1. Left-click the [XSECT ON/OFF] button to change the button label to "XSECT ON"
to activate the cross-section function.
The slice surface and the [XSECT] window appears. The [XSECT] window shows
the echoes of the slice surface.
The slice direction (vertical or horizontal) depends on the setting for [1 Cross-Sec-
tion Movement] on the [School Cross-Section] menu. See section 5.15.1.
• [1 Cross-Section Movement] = [Surface-Based]: Shows the slices that are hor-
izontal with the sea surface.
• [1 Cross-Section Movement] = [Scale-Based]: Shows the slices that are vertical
to the sea surface.
Note: The following figure shows the display example when [1 Scale Refer-
ence] on the [Depth Scale] menu is set to [VERT - Bow] or [OFF]. For details of
[1 Scale Reference], see section 5.13.5.
2. Spin the scrollwheel to adjust the slice surface position.
3. To deactivate the cross-section function and close the [XSECT] window, left-click
the [XSECT ON/OFF] button to change the button label to read "XSECT OFF".
