How to Install the Cisco 7920 Configuration Utility
Step 5
After the wizard finds the driver for the USB device, click Next to install the
driver. When the USB driver has been installed, click Finish to close the wizard
window.
After the USB driver is installed, a network adapter named Cisco 7920 USB

appears in the Device Manager window.

At the desktop, right-click the Network Neighborhood icon. Then choose
Properties from the pop-up menu. The Network and Dialup Connections window
appears.
In the Network and Dialup Connections window, right-click the Cisco 7920 USB
connection icon. Choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
In the Local Area Connection Properties window, on the General tab, under

Components Checked Are Used by This Connection, click Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP). Click the Properties button.

In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click the Use the following
IP address radio button. Enter the IP address in the IP Address field, and enter
the subnet mask address in the Subnet Mask field.

For users running Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the USB installation
is complete and the Cisco 7920 Configuration Utility will assign a private
IP address for the Cisco 7920 USB. These users can skip the rest of this
procedure.
Users running Windows 98 and Windows ME should continue to
The Configuration Utility has limited DHCP server capabilities. If the USB
interface of the Cisco Wireless IP Phone 7920 is set to DHCP, the IP address
should be 192.168.1.X to allow network communication between the
Cisco 7920 Wireless IP Phone and the PC.
Configure the Internet Protocol for the USB adapter with a static IP address
from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
Configure the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.
The reserved IP address for the Cisco 7920 Wireless IP Phone is 192.168.1.1
and the port number is 5001.
