The System Parameters tab in the Phone Preference window allows you to enable
DHCP and the TFTP option. The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
client provides a mechanism for allocating IP addresses dynamically so that
addresses can be reused when hosts no longer need them.
If you use DHCP in the network and enable the DHCP client, the Cisco Wireless
IP Phone 7920 can automatically obtain an IP address, subnet mask, and other IP
configuration information from the DHCP server. If the DHCP client is disabled,
you need to manually specify the static IP settings in the Static IP Settings group.
To enable the DHCP client, follow these steps.
Procedure
Click the System Parameters tab.
To enable the DHCP client, check the DHCP Client check box.
The Static Settings option are inactive.
Do one of the following:
Click the Use Static radio button in the TFTP Option group to specify the IP
address for the primary TFTP server.
Click the Use DHCP radio button to allow the Cisco Wireless IP Phone 7920
to automatically obtain the network settings from the DHCP server.
To disable the DHCP client, follow these steps.
Procedure
Click the System Parameters tab.
To disable the DHCP client, uncheck the DHCP Client check box.
