17 . Software upgrades

17. Software upgrades
Software upgrades should only be performed by a competent trained Engineer.

ote:
During a software upgrade system will be put in engineering mode and
no calls will be allowed to be made. Liaise with the building manager or
responsible person for guidance.
Network installation (MX16, NX16, OS – all variants) can be updated from a central
location – Master panel. Time required to upgrade the installation depends on the
size of installation. Before starting the process ensure:
1. Network faults are not present on the system.
2. Active calls are not in progress on the system.
3. All panels have SD cards in them.

17.1 System Update

Updated software release files would be available with Engineer or from Eaton.
Perform below steps to update the software for the system:
1. Remove mains supply of Main panel. Panel would now be powered using battery.
2. Open the top cover of panel.
3. Remove the SD card. Copy the release files in UPDATES folder on SD Card.
The files would have '.aes' extension
4. Safely eject the SD Card. Plug the SD Card back in socket provided.
5. Close the top cover. Power up the system.
6. Login into MASTER panel as 'Engineer 2'
7 . Go to menu option 'Install' [#11]
8. Go to option 'update System' [#8]
