18. Maintenance (As per BS 5839 – 9:2011)
Half yearly check
The half yearly check must be conducted by an 'ENGINEER' to thoroughly inspect
the system and ensure continued reliability.
1. Each outstation should be operated to check that the outstation is functioning,
and that speech is clear and intelligible.
2. A visual inspection should be made to check that all outstations remain
unobstructed and conspicuous.
3. Batteries and their connections should be examined, and load tested.
4. The functions of the Panel should be checked. All controls and visual
indicators at the panel should be checked for correct operation.
5. All fault indicators should be checked, where practicable, by simulation
of fault conditions.
Following modules can be self-tested under Test menu (Engineer access).
1. Keypad – All key press can be confirmed.
2. Buzzer – Self test tone is played for 4 seconds.
3. LEDs – All LEDs will glow one by one.

ote:
The result of this inspection and any outstanding defects should be reported
to the individual / organization responsible for routine maintenance and should
be recorded.
Remember to update the next 'Service date' for the system after the check.

18.3 Non-routine

From time to time, the VoCALL 16 EVC system may require non-routine attention,
including special maintenance. Non-routine maintenance includes:
1. A special inspection of an existing system when a new organization takes
over maintenance of the system.
2. Repair of faults or damage.
3. Modification to take account of extensions, alterations or changes
in occupancy.
4. Inspection and test of the system following a fire.
