4-7 LEVELING THE HITCH

4-7.1
When unfolding the grain drill the hitch
is lowered to its lowest point to allow the
wing fold locks to unhook and clear. Before
starting to plant, the hitch should be leveled
to insure proper opener depth and full
opener travel.
4-7.2
Make sure the hitch clevis is adjusted
for the proper tractor drawbar height (See
Figure 4-4).
4-7.3
Use the three reference holes at the
front of the hitch as a guide to level the hitch
for planting operations (See Figure 4-5). The
green wear pad (inside the hitch tube) will be
visible from the tractor seat as it slides by
the reference holes. When the green pad is
visible only through the middle reference
hole the hitch should be level. If the green
wear pad is visible through the upper or
lower reference holes then the hitch is either
too low or too high. Do not insert any objects
in the reference holes as the wear pad slides
over these holes and could damage the
hitch.
