4-1 TRACTOR PREPARATION

The Landoll 5530 Grain Drill is designed to be
pulled by tractor equipped with a double lip or
clevis type hitch. If your tractor is not equipped as
such, you need to purchase the hitch from your lo-
cal tractor dealer.
Before attaching the Grain Drill, prepare the
tractor as follows:

4-2.1 Prior to operating the 5530 Grain Drill,
read and understand the operator's manual
and all decals.
4-2.2 Inspect the machine thoroughly for good
operating condition.
4-2.3 Replace worn or missing parts.

4-1.1 Inflate the rear tractor tires equally and
add ballast according to the tractor opera-
tor's manual.
4-1.2 Lock the tractor drawbar in the center
position.
4-2.4 When the machine is new, check the
bolt tightness after a few hours of operation.
Tighten any loose nuts or bolts. Check the lift
wheel lug bolts daily.
4-2.5 Check the lift wheel tire inflation. Inflate
all tires equally to avoid side draft. Follow the
tire manufacturer's recommended pressures
listed on the sidewall of the tires.
4-2.6 Check opener scrapers for proper ad-
justment to the disc blades (See Section
4-24).
4-2.7 Lubricate the machine (See Section
4-33 and Figure 4-37).
4-2.8 Check that all safety decals and reflec-
tors are correctly located and legible. Re-
place if damaged.
