RCM101D User Manual

Troubleshooting

General Operation

Problem
Erratic operation
I can't access the
RCM101D, even though I
have specified the IP
address and port number
correctly.
Mouse pointer confusion
Mouse movement
extremely slow
Changing Mouse Sync
Mode to Manual makes the
RCM101D crash.
When I was in a web
browser session making
configuration changes, I got
timed out and the settings I
changed are lost.
When the remote server is
running Fedora the mouse
pointer on the remote server
does not move, whether I
am accessing it from the
local console or a local
client computer.

The RCM101D needs to be started before the KVM switch
1. If the RCM101D is connected to a KVM switch, make
sure to power it on before powering on the switch.
2. If the KVM switch was started before the RCM101D,
reset or restart the KVM switch.
The RCM101D needs to be reset (see Upgrade Main
Firmware, page 27, point 1).
If the RCM101D is behind a router, the router's Port
Forwarding (also referred to as Virtual Server) feature
must be configured. See Port Forwarding, page 119, for
details.
If you find the display of two mouse pointers (local and
remote) to be confusing or annoying, you can use the
Toggle Mouse Display function to shrink the non-
functioning pointer. See page 70 for details.
There is too much data being transferred for your
connection to keep up with. Lower the video quality (see
Video Settings, page 77) so that less video data is
transmitted.
The RCM101D has not crashed. You can wait
approximately 5 minutes for normal operations to resume,
or you can reset the RCM101D to get it going right away
(see Upgrade Main Firmware, page 27, point 1).
If you do not click Apply, the RCM101D is not aware that
you are working, and times you out. Without clicking
Apply, none of your changes are recognized. You must
click Apply as you go along in order to have the settings
saved on the RCM101D and reset the timeout counter.
If the remote server is connected with a PS/2 cable, log
into the RCM101D with a browser; open a viewer; on the
control panel set Mouse DynaSync to Manual. See
page 88 for details.
