Replacing the Server Board

The server board is secured to the chassis using seven silver screws and two black screws as shown in Figure
65. The black screws must always be installed in the same mounting holes.
Required Tools and Supplies:
Anti-static wrist strap and conductive workbench pad (recommended)
Phillips* (cross head) screwdriver (#2 bit)

Server Board Removal

1.
Power off system and remove the AC power cord.
2.
Disconnect all externally attached cables.
3.
Remove the chassis top cover (see Section 2.1.1.).
4.
Remove the air duct (see Section 2.2.1).
5.
Disconnect all cables attached to PCIe* add-in cards (if installed).
6.
Remove all options installed onto the server board including (if installed): Intel® RAID 5 option key, Intel®
RMM 4 Lite key, TPM module, and riser bracket assemblies.
7.
Remove processors (see Section 2.3.)
8.
Remove all DIMMs (see Section 2.4.)
9.
Disconnect and clear from the server board area all cables attached to connectors on the server board.
10. Remove seven silver screws and two black screws used to secure the server board to the chassis (see
Letter A).
11. Carefully slide the server board towards the front of the chassis and lift it away (see letter B).
