ActiveScale™ X100 Support Guide
Note: To order the same rack used for the base ActiveScale system, refer to
Replaceable parts
• System depth—Select a rack mounting solution that has a depth of 47.24 in (1200 mm).
• System weight—Select a rack that can maintain a static load of 2000 lbs (907.18 kg)
• Rack rails—Select a rack with rails that are either:
– Set 798 mm from the front of the rack to the mounting surface.
– Back far enough to allow space for the molding of the power cords of the Storage Enclosure
Basics to go between or around the front vertical rails.
• Cabling and cable management—Select a cable management system that can route cables safely
through your system. Use the following guidelines:
– Cables are wired from the rear of the system. In the case of the storage enclosures, the cables
connect in the front of the rack and are run through cabling channels in the rail kit to the rear of
the rack.
– All cables provided are varying lengths based on the design of the whole system. The length of
each cable is based on the length needed to cleanly connect to the necessary component ports.
– There is a maximum supported length of seven meters for the DAC cables used in the ActiveScale
X100.
• Grounding—Ensure that the electrical components used to power the system can be grounded safely.
• Component dimensions—Select a rack that can meet the dimensions for each system component.
For the full set of dimensions for each component, refer to

10.3 PDU requirements

Each rack requires its own PDUs:
• For single-phase, the original set of four PDUs can be split in pairs across both racks. You can also use
the 1EX0284 upgrade kit.
• For three-phase, each rack will need to two PDUs (1EX0282 upgrade kit) for redundancy.
If you are not using the PDUs that came with your ActiveScale X100 after split-racking the system, follow
the PDU requirements in this section.
