8.7 Programming the System Interconnects

After cabling the System Expansion Nodes, log into the System Interconnect and open ports 38 (for
System Expansion Node 1), 40 (for System Expansion Node 2) and 42 (for System Expansion Node 3).
Note: The VLANs on each port will be automatically enabled while running the
System Expansion Node configuration wizard.
To program each System Interconnect:
1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your laptop to port 44 on System Interconnect 1.
2. Configure your computer to be on the same network as the System Interconnect using the following
values:
– Management Port: 192.168.123.0/24
– Subnet: 255.255.255.0
– Gateway: 192.168.123.123
3. Open a Telnet session to the System Interconnect and replace switchport_IP with the default
IP address 192.168.123.123.
The System Interconnect command prompt appears.
4. Log in using the default credentials:
– User name: admin
– no password
5. Type enable to enter the Privileged EXEC command mode.

7. Open the required ports for the System Expansion Node:
Important: If you are installing more than one System Expansion Node, open
the necessary ports on both System Interconnects before continuing to the next
node.
