Your GTA consists of a control unit and a furnace, permanently
connected to each other by a flexible umbilical tube. This tube
contains the water and gas supplies as well as the power and control
cable for your GTA furnace. For Zeeman instruments, the furnace is
also connected to the instrument by a cable that plugs into the main
instrument.
For non-Zeeman spectrometers, the GTA furnace is installed in the
sample compartment of your instrument when operating in furnace
mode. When operating in flame mode, you must remove the furnace
from the sample compartment and place it in the storage location
inside the control unit. For Zeeman spectrometers, the furnace can
remain in the sample compartment at all times.
The GTA uses the PSD (Programmable Sample Dispenser) to
automatically deliver measured volumes of sample to the furnace.
