Requirements for Fume Extraction

Recommended requirements for fume extraction:
Figure 10. Checking the flow rate through the accessory
44
The GTA viewing/fume extraction accessory must be fitted to a
suitable duct. The diameter of the duct must be either:
150 mm ± 2.5 mm (6 in.), or
125 mm ± 2.5 mm (5 in.).
The extraction flow rate, without the GTA viewing/fume
extraction accessory fitted, must be 6 m
specified in the Agilent AA Site Preparation Guide.
For correct fume extraction, the flow rate through the GTA
viewing/fume extraction accessory must be 0.27 m
(9.5 cfm). This gives a pressure drop across the device of
approximately 0.1 kPa (0.014 psi), when measured between the
inside of the extraction duct and the atmosphere, with the GTA
viewing/fume extraction accessory fitted to the instrument. Refer
to Figure 10.
Performance is dependent on the configuration of the fume
extraction system and fan characteristics. Contact your Agilent
field service engineer if further assistance is required.
