The plate does not fit flat in the flue but should fit snugly, with no more than a

5 mm gap between the edge of the plate and the edge of the flue.

Before running the instrument in flame mode, remove the accessory from both

the instrument and the exhaust duct.

Push the adaptor plate up into the flue at an angle of
approximately 30 degrees. Continue to push the plate up until it
is above the baffle rest. Refer to Figure 20.
Use the handle to pull the adapter plate down into position. The
plate should rest on the baffle rest step.
Adjust the position of the hose clip so that the lip is positioned
on the edge of the flue. It is not necessary to physically attach the
hose clip to the flue. When correctly adjusted, the hose clip will
locate the exhaust hose to the rear of the flue.
If necessary, reconnect the exhaust hose to the accessory. The
exhaust hose should be pushed down into the accessory until it is
level with the white block at the bottom of the accessory (see
Figure 21 on Page 52).
Once the GTA viewing/fume extraction accessory has been fitted
to the instrument you can use it to view the workhead. Lift the
cover on the accessory to illuminate the sample port and view
down into the injection hole of the graphite tube, using the
mirror built into the accessory.
