The Manu Immobil 50P10 and Manu Immobil Long 50P11 Wrist positioning Orthoses are to be exclusively
used for the orthotic fitting of the hand or wrist in accordance with the indications. They can be used for
post-operative and post-traumatic immobilization as well as for occupational therapy.
The Manu Immobil Long 50P11 wrist positioning orthosis offers additional immobilisation of the finger joints.
2 Indications and effects
The orthoses provide for a high degree of immobilization of the hand, wrist (applies to 50 P10 and 50P11)
and finger joints (only applies to 50P11) after fractures and luxations or following the wrist, carpal and
metacarpal operations. For treatment of acute irritations (such as carpal tunnel syndrome), wrist arthroses
or severe distorsions. Indication must be determined by the physician. The hand or wrist and finger joints
(only applies to 50 P11) are highly immobilized in a functional position.
3 Selection of orthosis sizes
The 50P10 Manu Immobil Wrist Orthosis is available in one universal size. It fits right and left sides.
The 50P11 Manu Immobil Long Wrist Orthosis is available in two sizes (M and L) and fits right and left sides.

4 Material and construction

The wrist orthoses consist of polypropylene with an integrated steel joint bar as well as attached pad of
SpaceTex (polyester, polyamide) and tie-down straps (polyamide) with hook and loop closure.
5 Trial fitting, application and delivery of the orthosis
The initial fitting and application of the Manu Immobil and Manu Immobil Long Wrist positioning Orthoses
must only be carried out by qualified personnel. The orthoses are delivered closed and ready for trial fitting
and are already preset in a functional position.
If necessary, the orthopedic technician can perform individual adjustment (± 20°) in the area of the wrist
and metacarpophalangeal joints. The stamped lines on the underside of the orthosis mark the area where
the orthosis can be cold-shaped.
Note:
Use a level support surface for adjusting the orthosis. Shape carefully, step by step, applying
the pressure directly on the inner, centrally positioned steel splint. Repeated adjustment should
be avoided.
To apply the orthosis, adjust the fixation straps with adjustable direction of closure to the largest extent
possible. Slide the hand into the wrist orthosis from the back until the hand rests completely on the hand
pad. Subsequently pull on the fixation straps in the following order and close the hook and loop closures
(fig. 2 + 3):
1) Wrist strap
2) Back-of-the-hand strap
3) Finger strap
4) Forearm strap
The fixation straps, especially the back-of-the-hand strap should be applied firmly, without constriction.
