Inserting the PLATE and Unloading the CASSETTE
Inserting the PLATE
[1] As soon as the MCPU receives the Erase Done status, it issues a command to the MSC TO Eject the PLATE and to return to Home position.
[2] The MSC starts the SLOW SCAN MOTOR moving in reverse direction, which moves the PLATE upward into the open CASSETTE.
Note
The Slow Scan runs at a constant speed. If there is an error, for exampel a small bind, the Slow Scan will retry at half speed, but with more torque, to try to overcome
the bind.
[3] All of the actions of the PLATE GUIDE AY occur in reverse order.
[4] The FRONT and REAR PLATE GUIDE FINGERS guide the PLATE into the CASSETTE from the back side.
[5] When the EXTRACTION BAR reaches Home position ("0" encoder counts), the SLOW SCAN MOTOR stops.
Unloading the CASSETTE
[1] The MCPU sends an Eject Cassette command to the MSC.
[2] The DUPLEX CAM MOTOR, M1, energizes (??was it fully off or just stopped??).
[3] The DUPLEX CAM indexes toward Position #4. As it rotates, both the SLED CAM and the HOOK CAM execute specific actions.
SLED CAM actions on way to DUPLEX CAM position #4
a. SLED PLATE moves rearward.350 in.
b. CLAMP ROLLERS on the CASSETTE ROLLER AYs (FRONT or
MIDDLE depending on size of the CASSETTE), unclamp the
CASSETTE. The CASSETTE is now being pinched by the PINCH
ROLLERS.
c. The LIGHT SHUTTER moves to the Unblocked position.
[4] The LIGHT SHUTTER SENSOR, S4, detects that the LIGHT SHUTTER is open. Note to Tim. Step 9, prev. pg. is the Laser Shutter being closed. HMB
[5] The CASSETTE DRIVE MOTORS, M2 and M3 start up ?? is this in reverse direction??, moving the CASSETTE toward the front of the LOAD STATION.
[6] When the LOAD SENSOR, S3, is unblocked, it sends a message to the MSC which stops the CASSETTE DRIVE MOTORS.
[7] The STOP PIN springs back to the Closed position.

Status: PLATE has been Re-inserted into the CASSETTE
• SLOW SCAN MOTOR is stopped.
• PLATE is inside the CASSETTE.
• HOOKS are still inside the PLATE.
HOOK CAM actions on way to DUPLEX CAM position #4
a. ?? I'm not sure what happens here other than the PLATE is
unhooked and the Cassette is latched. What does the HOOK
YOKE AY have to do with it??
b. The HOOK YOKE FOLLOWER pushes..........
c. The same time.........
