TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST

If you are experiencing problems with the BACnet
before contacting Kidde Technical Support:
Confirm that the network cabling is correct.
Confirm that the computer network card is operational and correctly configured.
Confirm that there is an Ethernet adapter installed in the PC's Device Manager List, and
that it is configured to run the TCP/IP protocol.
Check that the IP netmask of the PC matches the BACnet Interface Module. The default IP
address of the BACnet Interface Module is 192.168.1.24.

Ensure that the PC and BACnet Interface Module are on the same IP Network, or assign a
Static IP Address to the PC on the 192.168.1.0 network using the Remote User Interface
Utility.
If Using Windows XP, ensure that the firewall is disabled.
Ensure that all other Ethernet cards active on the PC, especially wireless adapters, are dis-
abled.
Ensure that the BACnet Interface Module address is set correctly.
Ensure that DIP switch positions are set correctly. Refer to Section 1-3.2, DIP Switches,
in Chapter 1 for more information.

LED DIAGNOSTICS

Refer to Section 1-3.3, Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), in Chapter 1 for the location and
description of LEDs on the BACnet Interface Module which can be helpful for troubleshooting
purposes.
Note: The lid on top of the BACnet Interface Module has to be removed in order to see the
LEDs. Pull on the lid while holding onto the 6-pin Phoenix connector. Do not hold the
wall mount tabs when pulling the lid, as these are designed to break off if not required.

Start > Run.
2.Type in "ipconfig".
3.The account settings should be displayed.
4.Ensure
that
