ENABLING MODBUS ON THE CONTROL UNIT

Modbus must first be enabled on the appropriate RS232 port of the ARIES NETLink control unit
to allow each BACnet Interface Module to communicate. It is necessary to do the following:
1. Identify the RS232 port on the ARIES NETLink MCB where the BACnet Interface Module is
connected (either "RS232A" or "RS232B").
Note: Typically, the topmost RS232 port ("RS232A") is connected to the topmost
2. Use either the keypad menus on the ARIES NETLink control unit or use the ARIES NETLink
Configuration Tool (ACT8000) to select and enable the port just identified.
If using the keypad menus of the control unit:
Select the SET MENU>2.Port Control>1. RS232A (or 2. RS232B)>4.MODBUS RTU
If using the ARIES NETLink ConfigurationTool (ACT8000):
Select the Global Tab in the Configuration Editor. In the Ports area of the screen, select
the item Modbus 1 (for topmost BACnet Interface Module). Select "RS232A for Modbus
RTU", "RS232B for Modbus RTU" or "Disabled". Repeat for Modbus 2 (Add-On BACnet In-
terface Module).
3. Use either the keypad menus on the ARIES NETLink control unit or use the ARIES NETLink
Configuration Tool (ACT8000) to set the port Modbus ID to "2".
Note:The RS232 port Modbus ID should always be set to "2" for all BACnet Interface
If using the keypad menus of the control unit:
After 4.MODBUS RTU is selected, a prompt will ask for Modbus ID. Enter a value of "2".
If using the ARIES NETLink ConfigurationTool (ACT8000):
Select the Global Tab in the Configuration Editor. In the Ports area of the screen, use the
