Basic I/O Board

This section describes the basic I/O board for the PRIMEPOWER900 main unit, and
provides specifications for the PCI slots mounted on the basic I/O board.
4.5.1

Overview of basic I/O board

l One basic I/O board has seven slots for short cards and one slot for a long card.
Up to two basic I/O boards can be installed in the main unit.
l As shown in
mounted on the left side of the unit and the other is mounted on the right side of the
unit. These boards are not interchangeable.
l The basic I/O board conforms to the PCI local bus specifications (Rev. 2.1).
l The basic I/O board supports a bus width of 64 bits and clock frequencies of 33
MHz (5.0 V) and 33/66 MHz (3.3 V).
l The PCI slot supports hot replacement (PCI Hot Plug). For details, refer to
4.5.3, "PCI hot plug."
l Standard I/O features on the basic I/O board include LAN ports, SCSI ports
(dedicated ports for internal hard disk units), and serial ports (RS232C).
Note:
If an optional PCI/disk box is installed, six slots for short cards and four slots
for long cards can be added. A total of two PCI/disk boxes can be installed.
