Backups

This section describes backups.
To avoid data destruction from hard disk errors or other causes, create backups
regularly.
Detailed information for creating and restoring data backups is provided in the
following documents:
l For instructions on backing up the partitions in the PRIMEPOWER900:
Section 7.5.4, "Backup and restore of system volume", in the "System Console
Software User's Guide".
l For instructions on backing up the SMC:
Section 8.2, "Creating Backups".
4It is strongly recommended that users create a backup of the SMC system disks.
If restoring system disks is required for hard disk recovery, contact a certified
service engineer for recovery assistance. If a hard disk failure occurs, give the
DAT cartridge containing the latest backup of the system disk to a certified
service engineer.
