5.0 Cleaning and disinfection

We recommend you to always document all maintenance and replace operations in
writing.
WARNING
Risk of infection by secretion on the device, accessories and consumables.
Deadly diseases can be transmitted.
Always wear disposable gloves during any cleaning.
Clean the device after every use.
Clean and disinfect the device according to the operating instructions.
If secretion has penetrated into the device, please observe chapter „5.6
Oversuction" on page 37.

5.1 Prepare for cleaning

1. Switch off the device.
2. Remove the recharging accessories from the device.
3. Remove the canister system from the device: Chapter „3.4 Connection and removal
of canister system and hoses" on page 19.
Risk of infection by spilled over secretion. Deadly diseases can be transmitted.
4. Carefully remove the canister lid / the Serres
5. Dispose of the secretion / the Serres
chapter „10.0 Disposal" on page 49.
6. Dispose of all disposables (e.g. suction catheter, fi ngertip, single-use suction hose).
In case you are using the DDS canister system, please dispose of the bacterial fi lter.
7. Remove the hose rewind.
8. Remove the support for the canister system.

5.2 Cleaning

Please observe the operating instructions of the disinfectant manufacturers. Pay
particular attention to the information regarding the concentration of the disinfectants
and the material compatibility.
Some disinfectants may stain the parts of the canister lid and silicone hoses. Parts
can also stain by autoclaving. However, this has no infl uence on the properties of the
materials.
Please only use disinfectants, which are recommended by ATMOS (chapter „5.4
Recommended disinfectants" on page 34). The use of other disinfectants may
damage the device or the canister system.
