Switching the Server ON/OFF

CAUTION!
If after switching ON the server there is nothing but flickering stripes on
the screen, switch the server OFF immediately (see chapter "Problem
Solutions and Tips" on page 63).
The ON/OFF button does not disconnect the server from the mains
voltage. To completely disconnect it from the mains voltage, remove all
power plugs from the sockets.
Server is Switched OFF
Ê Press the ON/OFF button.
The server is switched ON, performs a system test and boots the operating
system.

Please note that the memory size displayed during the system test varies
according to the PCI slot equipment.
Server is Switched ON
Ê Shut down the operating system in an orderly manner.
Ê Press the ON/OFF button.
The server is switched OFF.
Other ON/OFF Possibilities
In addition to the power button, the server can be switched ON and OFF in the
following ways:
– Specified power-ON time/power-OFF time
Using the ServerView programme you can set the time at which the server is
switched ON or OFF.
– Ring indicator
The server is switched on via an internal or external modem.
– Following a power failure
The server automatically reboots following a power failure
– Wake-On LAN (WOL)
The server is switched ON by a command via the LAN.
