2. R&P service personnel will determine whether a component exchange is
necessary and whether the component is covered under warranty.
3. If the component exchange is billable, R&P service personnel will inform
you of the exchange price.
4. You will be issued a return number.
5. As soon as R&P receives your purchase order and appropriate invoice,
the company will ship a replacement component to you.
6. Once you have received the replacement component and installed it into
your unit, you should ship the defective component back to R&P in the
same box that the replacement component arrived in, according to the
instructions in Section 5.3 or 5.4. Be sure to write the return number on
the box or in the return papers.
Billable Return for Repair
If an instrument component becomes defective after the warranty period, the compo-
nent can be returned to R&P for repair. This procedure is generally less expensive than
a billable return for exchange but can result in a longer downtime for the instrument.
If you would like to return your instrument component for repair, follow this
procedure:
1. Contact the R&P Service Department. Have the following information
available:

System serial number
·
Nature of the problem
·
Troubleshooting steps taken and results.
2. R&P service personnel will determine whether the component is defec-
tive and whether the component is covered under warranty.
3. If R&P service personnel determine that the component is billable and
you wish to return it for repair, they will inform you of the exchange price.
The billable repair will not exceed this price.
4. You will be issued a return number.
5. Ship the defective component back to R&P, according to the instructions
in Section 5.3 or 5.4. Be sure to write the return number on the box or in
the return papers. Please include the name and phone number of the
person who should be contacted with the final repair price.
6. R&P service personnel will call this person to tell them the final repair
price, once the repair is complete.
7. As soon as R&P receives your purchase order for the repair, the company
will ship your repaired component to you.
